The Fusion Has Landed

The Fusion 480 is the latest edition to the Stealth Range. Realizing the need to add a more affordable rotomoulded kayak to the range, Stealth spent over 18 months of research and development in designing this latest beauty. The first step in creating the Fusion 480 kayak was to identify a need in the market.  It also came down to inspired thoughts and a gut-feel for what the market might need, even though the market doesn’t know it yet. The Fusion 480 is truly about durability, maximum stability all without sacrificing speed and performance. The kayak is built using rotomoulded technology with advanced processes to keep the kayak light enough yet still rigid. The focus on this… Read More

Katonkel Ronkel a Week in and on FIRE

We have reached the 1 week mark of the Katonkel Ronkel and it feels like we’ve been fishing for month’s for the comp. So much has happened with the leaders changes a couple of times over the last week. Yesterday Taariq surprised us with his past lunch time launch and then ending up with the biggest fish so far. Then today Darren grabbed a 64cm Bonnie but due to his bonus point and extra fish over Taariq he took the lead in the comp. Below some stats we’ve shared with the competitors: For those interested, we do the lucky draws on the whatsapp group by means of a video submission… Read More

Katonkel Ronkel off to a Smashing Start

What an awesome start to this competition. We welcomed 53 competitors to the comp taking the cash prize pot to R 13 250. This morning marked day one of the comp and what a smashing start with plenty fish coming out. We have 21 Fish reported thus far and looking forward to adding loads more to the score sheet. Early on it’s very evident that the bonus points competitors earn and the extra fish caught will be critical to winning the comp. In order to earn a bonus point it’s very important that competitors take a nice marketing friendly picture with their catch and kayakfish.co.za sticker clearly visible to earn… Read More

2020 Week 24-25 – Blankers a Tail and some Roaches

Week 24 started off with some terrible weather, but luckily for us the weather cleared just in time for the weekend. After some news of a Snoek and some bonnies the the previous weekend the beach was lined with kayakers. Almost looked like a comp was taking place with proper social distancing rules being followed obviously. Unfortunately the whole lot came back empty handed. The next week gave us a public holiday and even Sean dusted off the lockdown from his 575 and joined the guys at 3 anchor. Loads of stories about the one that got away, a mini fish but ultimately we only had one lucky first timer.… Read More

The NEW Stealth Fusion 480

By now most of you have seen or had a small taste of the new Stealth Fusion 480 kayak. There’s been so many questions and here are some direction and clarity on the subject. Firstly where does the Fusion Fit into the Stealth range? MOST importantly this was not designed or is not being manufactured to replace any of the existing glass kayaks, it is a new addition to expand the range. Stealth has chosen the technology that allows them to offer one of the lightest and most complete paddle fishing kayaks in a plastic version. With a hull weight of approx 28kgs without any fittings. The Fusion also allows us… Read More

2020 Week 23 – And we’re back on the water!

The biggest news of the week was the fact that the Gazete was passed allowing us to get back on the water to fish! Thanks to everyone involved and SAKFA for fighting for this on our behalf! For more information on SAKFA please visit www.sakfa.co.za. With no one being on the water the guys had a good scattered approach to the weekend with some guys heading out at Simonstown and others headed for robben Island. Bill, Stephen and I headed out before sunrise in Simons to go grab us a couple of chokka then trolling to see if there was anything around. A couple of guys, Joseph and his mate… Read More

Where it all began and some Stealth Talk

We set out to chat to Brett from Stealth to find out where it all began and a bit more about Stealth Kayaks specifically. We were also joined by Roscoe the legend from Live2Fish and Sean from KayakFish to tell us where it all began for them. We’ll have to spend some more time with Sean on KayakFishing in Cape Town and where things began this side as we ran out of time on that subject. Thanks for everyone who joined the chat! WCKAC Club Comp 2

It’s been extremely quiet over the past couple of weeks in our local popular fishing waters. On Thursday a couple of kayakers and I sneaked out to go have a look and see what’s happening in anticipation of our club comp the coming weekend. Point was freezing cold with sub 14 temperatures. There was the odd Bonnie but no fireworks. On my way home I still had some time and decided to give Simons a quick go, loads of guys were drifting trying for the very quiet Chokka and hoping for some mackerel. I opted to have a look if there’s some Yellow tail around and managed to find and… Read More

Stilbaai Kayak Fishing Classic 2020

The day turned out surprisingly rewarding for the guys who went out to sea, with a couple of quota’s made on the day (Bonnies). Loads of war stories also accompanied the day with sharks breaking rod holders and a couple of guys who went swimming due to the skop in the water. The river guys wasn’t able to produce the goods on the day but most didn’t go home with nothing caught. The battle was to catch something that fits the minimum size requirements for points. We were allowed to fish until 5pm which allowed ample time on Saturday. Tip: for future Stilbaai river fishing, as the tide turns and… Read More
